Rhone Wine Dinner Wednesday, November 17, 6:30pm

As we look forward to Thanksgiving, we're feeling especially thankful for a talented new chef, Collin Donnelly, a successful Parents Weekend, and the continuing tradition of our popular wine dinners.  Just in time for the holiday, our Rhone wine dinner will showcase the flavors of fall and, with the help of our wine guru, Ryne Hazzard, educate us a bit about the product of this fabulous region.

Wednesday, November 17, 6:30 pm
$45 per person for four courses paired with wine


Goat Cheese Gnudi
Nelson county apples, Virginia ham, local chestnuts, brown butter, sage
Dom. de Couron Cotes du Rhone Viognier 2009  (floral, bright, soft fruit)

Crispy Duck Confit Terrine
roasted brussel sprouts, cranberries, mushrooms, herb duck jus
Monpertuis VdP du Gard Counoise 2007 (quite rustic and earthy, good core of dark fruit)

Grilled Buffalo Creek Ribeye
confit of Stone House Farm root vegetables, braised collard greens, bacon,
juniper, quail egg
Dom. des Hauts Chassis Crozes Hermitage "Les Chassis" 2007 (spicy, rich, powerful; hints of smoked bacon and dark red fruit)

Pear and Almond Tart
candied citrus, fall spice anglaise
Fenouillet Muscat de Beaumes de Venise 2008 (very aromatic, apricot and tangerine notes)
