Posts and Beam

Today Timber Framer Bob Smith installed the posts and beam for the loft above the kitchen. The material was salvaged from Furr's Mill, and based on the way the beam was treated (with an adz: see photos below and look for the short chop marks), this may have been part of the earliest section of the mill, which dates to the late 1700's.
